Visiting Scientists

Dr. Felipe Carvalho

Dr. Carvalho is a stock assessment scientist of the NOAA-funded University of Hawaii Joint Institute for Marine and Atmospheric Research (JIMAR). Felipe’s research focus on developing stock assessment models for highly migratory species in the Atlantic and Pacific oceans.

From November 29th to December 5th 2015 Felipe worked onsite with CAPAM collaborators from IATTC and SWFSC on a project developed to test currently model diagnostics, as well as new potential diagnostics used in integrated stock assessments. The project will be complete remotely. The overall goal of the project is to come up with a set of "MUST DO" diagnostics to add rigor to integrated stock assessment models. The complete study will be published on in a special issue of the journal Fisheries Research planned for papers developed from the CAPAM Data Weighting workshop.
